Intensive Fertiliser Promotion Campaign

In order to promote the use of NPK fertilisers, Zuari implemented an intensive fertiliser promotion campaign under its centrally sponsored program scheme. This campaign was carried out in Nanded (Maharashtra), Tumkur (Karnataka) and Nalgonda (Andhra Pradesh). The campaign stretched over four years from 1980 to 1984.

As an outcome of this campaign, NPK nutrient consumption increased from 17 kg per hectare to 31 kg per hectare in Nanded, from 21 kg to 32 kg per hectare in Tumkur and from 34 kg to 60 kg per hectare in Nalgonda. The increase in fertiliser usage in these areas has been directly correlated with an increase in crop yield. This is a testimonial to the fact that intensive fertiliser usage leads to an improvement in agricultural output.
