Gobind Sugar Mills Limited, one of the oldest sugar companies in the country, with 60 years of continuous operation, is part of the Adventz group. The Company is listed on the Calcutta Stock Exchange and was established in 1952 as part of Dr KK Birla Group of sugar companies. The sugar mill at Aira Estate in Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh has a crushing capacity of 7,500 tonnes of sugarcane per day.
Today Gobind Sugar Mills under the stewardship of Mr. Suresh Krishnan, Chairman, and Mr. R.S. Raghavan, Managing Director, looks forward to a bright future. Equipped with an effective self-sustaining strategy and freshly infused capital, the mill has entered the resurrection mode starting with the power co-generation.
The plant shall now be powered by self generated power from a green power project which uses the organic waste of sugarcane or the bagasse as fuel. This not only generates additional power which will be sold to the state run power cooperation’s but also reduces the carbon footprint as compared to conventional sources of power generation.
The expansion project aimed at building up capacity from 7200 tons crushing per day to 10,000 tons crushing per day, this would enable the bagasse-based cogeneration plant to perform at its optimum capacity, thus making the power generation more viable. The integration plans also include setting up of a new 500 Tons per day, back-end refinery project to produce sulphurless, refined sugar, which would command a premium in the market. The refinery once set up would be a sophisticated, state-of-the-art production unit based on ion-exchange technology.
Armed with the state-of-the-art co-generation plant, Gobind Sugar Mills, in its new avatar, is raring to touch new horizons as it gears up to begin an era of intelligent innovation with renewed vigour and unparalleled enthusiasm.
